I’ve been playing nothing but Reno Jackson decks since the first wing of the League of Explorers adventure went live. This game is totally addicting, searching new games at BT.com never fails me. The card creates a really interesting deckbuilding exercise, since it asks players to do something very different than usual in order to ensure its effect. Weighing the value of playing duplicate copies of cards against the risk of not being able to use Reno’s effect when you draw him is a delicate balancing act.
The card is also excellent for promoting varied gameplay, since it naturally leads to players using more different cards than they usually would. All in all, I’m really impressed by the impact the card has had on the metagame already, and I’ve had a ton of fun playing around with different ways to use it. The most successful Reno deck I’ve played so far has been Warlock. Huge burst health gain obviously synergizes very well with Lifetap, and the ability to draw additional cards easily helps with consistency, both of finding Reno as well as cards with particular categories of effects. There are obviously a lot of options for individual card choices, but I’ve been happy with everything in the list I’ve been playing, which was largely based on a version Strifecro used on his stream the other day.
I played this deck exclusively from rank 6 to Legend, winning a very high percentage of my games. It’s very powerful, and has the tools to compete with pretty much everything I’ve encountered so far. And on top of t hat, it’s a whole lot of fun!
