So I’ve been in Amsterdam for about a day and a half now. Got in early yesterday morning after a long trip and managed to stay up until last night before going to sleep. That meant staying awake for 30+ consecutive hours, but it seems like it’s effectively beaten my jet lag. Woke up briefly at 4 AM last night, but managed to get back to sleep well enough and didn’t get up again until 10 AM. Now it’s almost midnight here and I’m getting ready to head to bed, so things are looking good for switching to the local schedule.
Testing is going well, even though we’re a bit hamstrung by the terrible internet making drafting on MTGO a near impossibility. I managed to win one draft earlier, but did a second and nearly timed out of my first round before getting disconnected in game one of my second and never making it back online. I can appreciate that WotC is paying for my hotel, but I wish they could put us up in one with functional internet. Oh, and air conditioning. It’s the middle of the summer and the hotel actually does not have air conditioning. It’s unbearably hot at time during the day. I guess it’s a heat wave and it’s almost never like this, but it’s still pretty rough now.
I’m feeling a lot more confident than I was a few days ago now that I’ve gotten more testing in. I’m not quite settled on a deck, but I have a good idea what I want to play in both constructed formats, and feel like I have a pretty good handle on the draft portions. Looking forward to the event starting on Wednesday. Should be a lot of fun.
I should probably stop eating so many stroopwafels, tho….
